What I do is pretty much what redlightning suggested, except I use one of these:

Put that on where the radiator cap goes, then fill it up and keep some coolant in the funnel. Air will bubble out of it, and coolant will replace the air until there's no air left. The funnel's not
necessary but it saves the trouble of having to constantly top off the radiator with coolant. Running the engine definitely helps tremendously with working the air out, by keeping the bubbles circulating until they get out through the funnel/rad fill opening.
