Very interesting. I didn't realize the consumer GPS tech had been around for so long. It wasn't until the 2000s that I started seeing them, but I guess they must have been around for quite a while longer, just out of reach due to expense. Wikipedia says that much of the initial commercial development was done during the 80s. What do you mean by "detuned"?
