I'm sure you could make it work, if you wanted to invest the money/time. A new 08 muffler can't be cheap

Personally, I would rather find a suitable aftermarket muffler. You could probably build most of a custom system for the price of the '08 muffler, and get as good/better results.

I had the idea a while ago of trying a Mazda RX-8 muffler, because it looks very much like the stock SVX one, but why? An OEM one wouldn't do me any more good than my stock part, and the aftermarket ones are $600-$1000.
