Re: SVX with ITB
Nice throttle response! Curious about the power changes with this setup.
What size throttle plates are you running?

Re: twin TD04 project
A couple of VF39's will certainly meet your needs.
Even a single TD04 pushed to max will make 280 whp on a 2.5 Suby. That's theoretically 560 whp with twins.

Re: Dyno Graph
They call a Mustang dyno "the heartbreaker". A 300 HP STI reads about 230-235 whp on one. On most other dynos an STI might read closer to 260 whp.

Re: Dyno Graph
Some healthy cams would easily net you another 30-40 HP. But nice numbers just the same...especially the torque, and especially on a Mustang dyno!

Re: hydra nemesis
Such a true statement. I got to see a master Motec tuner work his magic on a Porsche 911 race car. Spent 20 minutes on the dyno and got his max power number. Spent the next 8 hours dialing in the...

Re: Building a 10,000 rpm NA engine.
I don't know for sure. Frank was surprisingly open about some specs, and tight lipped about others. I know Web did his camshafts with "about" .550" lift, and TD machine did a bunch of the valve train...

Re: Building a 10,000 rpm NA engine.
It was Frank Aragona who had crank issues. He told me and Jack that the standard crankshaft was dead reliable until 9000 rpms. After 9500 he had breakage issues. He had a billet crank made, and spun...

Re: Building a 10,000 rpm NA engine.
Looking good. If you have the chance, I'm curious about the measurement from the block's lower pan rail to the lowest portion of the pump and/or lines.

Re: Engine Bearing Failure
Jack's engine lost #5 rod bearing again, same as last time.
When he had standard cams and hammered on the car mercilessly for two seasons but only shifted at 6500 rpms, he had no issues. As soon...

Re: Camshafts for the EG33.
The longer the valves stay on the seats, the longer time you have to build cylinder pressures. A super-long seat-to-seat duration cam is essentially always bleeding off pressure. Bad enough (at low...

Re: Camshafts for the EG33.
In truth those are quite tame camshafts. They have very gentle valve openings judging by the relationship between the advertised duration and the @ .050 duration numbers. The advertised numbers don't...

Re: Engine Bearing Failure
I haven't spoke to Jack recently, but I saw on Facebook that he had finally removed it from the chassis. No word on teardown yet.

I decided today to fiddle with one of the EG33 heads that YT had left at my shop some years ago. They are useless for an actual vehicle since the cam caps are all...

I wish I could tell you more, but the fact is I had nothing to do with the assembly. The machine shop did the assembly. No Accusump as far as I know, but he does have an oil cooler.
As far as the...

Jack stopped by my shop last week and we had a long talk about it. He wants to tear the engine down to see what was damaged. He said he would part out the heads and cams if they were undamaged....

Re: Camshafts for the EG33.
Yes! Glad you understand this and took the time to explain it.
A lot of people don't, and instead they order cams that peak at *exactly* the lift at which max airflow is achieved. There is far...

Re: Engine Bearing Failure
And Jack 'lost' the engine again a few weeks back. It doesn't appear to like sustained 8000+ rpms. Lost oil pressure in the turns. No overheating at all.
So he has retired the EG33 for good this...

Re: Camshafts for the EG33.
Well, it seems that slightly taller valves, taller springs, and reground cams (smaller base circle) would work nicely together with hydraulic buckets and allow for more valve lift than the stock...

Re: Building a 10,000 rpm NA engine.
Jack's cams were welded and reground by Web Camshafts.
Frank Aragona's original camshafts were also welded/reground by Web, however right around the time he found the stock crankshaft's limits,...

475 hp on an engine dyno. Remember though, per the NHRA rules he converted it to run a distributor and twin 500 cfm Holley 2-bbl carburetors. No EFI or crank trigger allowed.
Not sure on the...

Re: Building a 10,000 rpm NA engine.
With Jack's EG33 (and Frank's for that matter), the large lobes on the camshafts required all sorts of grinding adjacent to the buckets, and even the underside of the rocker covers needed grinding to...

Re: Building a 10,000 rpm NA engine.
Don't forget that Frank Aragona told me and Jack that the stock crank was very reliable until about 9500 rpms. Then they failed repeatedly. So he went the billet route to spin 10,500 reliably.
