Trunk Light

Where is the mechanism located that turns off the light when you close the trunk? Mine is always on.

I'm not positive, just off the top of my head, but, I think it's actually in the latch mechanism. I'll have to check, when I get home, unless someone else has the answer. (This ain't one of those "does the fridge light actually go off when you shut the door" questions, is it? :D)

Open the trunk, look at the bottom part of the latch mechanism, not the part on the trunk lid.

There should be a small black plastic rectangle about 3/4" by 1/4" on the left side (as you look down at it). Pressing down on that causes my trunk light to go out.

Thanks, Lee. You've saved me from catching "heck" from my wife for dragging my manuals out . . . again. :D

Thanks for the info. I'll check it later. I was hoping it wasn't in the latch mechanism (like the doors are) because I manually closed that with a screwdriver and the light didn't go out.

Maybe you've already checked it by now, but it isn't in the latch itself.

Some portion of the upper latch sticks out enough to press a switch located alongside the bottom portion. Pressed in, no light, released, light should come on. However I have no idea what would have to be ordered to make it work. I attached the wiring schematic in a pdf file since I don't know what kind of machine you use.

Hope that helps, my command of the language for descriptive diagnostics lacks a tad more than just somewhat.
