AVCS on EG33?
Has anyone looked at a DOHC EJ AVCS cam-phaser and an EG33 cam pulley side-by-side? I am curious if it would bolt on, or if it's close enough that you could sleeve the camshaft with a taller key, if the pulleys are the same diameter, or if it's completely just different offset and in no way adaptable.
I understand that EG33's drive both cams off one pulley, but VCT seems to be useful in some SOHC applications, so I'd imagine there would be some benefits if you have a standalone capable of pulling it off. EG33 is non-interference so you are less limited in your cam-phasing. Just looking into it as I plan on RusEFI'ing my EG33 eventually and am looking to have a little fun with it. Cheers, Ryan |

Edit: It seems that the oil doesn't actually run through the cam, so you'd "just" need to figure out a creative way to route the lines between the cam pulley and the head itself (can't go through the head as the secondary cam gears are in the way) and mount the solenoid somewhere. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.iwi...05-WRX%3F_amp_ I really need to get my hands on some of these components. |

If you look at the diagram that you linked to. The system is, oil pressure is switched by the solenoid to a feed that goes into the head casting to feed the front cam bearing, the cam has a hole in it, that connects by a drilling through to the front of the cam, to the ACVS. Bit of machining on the cam shaft, and some oil passages drilled in the head, not insurmountable.:) |
