A little background...Trek has a lifetime warranty on their bikes as long as you have the receipt of purchase, and I have an old 2100 at home with some corrosion on the rear brake stay. I'll be heading off to college next year and I plan on using a bike as my means of transportation. So I took my 2100 into the Trek store to see if they would replace the frame for me and it turns out they don't cover corrosion :confused:..so instead of giving me a new bike, they offered me the "customer loyalty program" where you basically choose any bike and get it at a discounted price; something like half price. So with some of my graduation money I purchased the Trek Valencia. Great for commuting, made of aluminum, and comes with disc brakes! :)

This will let me give the SVX a bit of a break these next few years while I'm a poor college student...

On a side note, does anyone know of a good bike rack for our cars? The Trek store wasn't able to come up with anything that worked for the SVX...we had to remove both wheels to get it to fit into the car :lol:

Hi, I bought my SVX from a guy in Maine that is/was on these forums.

The car had a bike rack on it. He took it off to sell the car. Im not sure if he still has it or not.

He said "The bike rack is specially ordered from Australia, as a good one for the SVX is not available in the U.S. It cost a lot, I forgot how much but over $400"

There are two options. Rola and Unisport. I have the unisport, but they are no longer available. Rola is still available but must be ordered from Australia.

I have the ROLA I bought from Australia. Had to do the same thing to get my Trek to fit in the car before I bought the roof rack. It cost me $700 for the rack, the bike rack, ski rack, and shipping. I think the exchange rate between the dollar and australian dollar makes it cost more now.

Is the unisport a roof rack as well? I wonder if they can be found used..
