i live in orlando florida as most of know charlie paid us a visit and gaveus hell we lost most of the back part of the roof just bare wood showing in some spots, also massive tree limbs an trees falling down, not to mention no power for a week!!!

now we have another heading directly for us instead of a catagory 4 like the last one this one will be a catagory 5 bye the time it hits florida, and orlando is closer to the east to the west sowhat is left of my house will be gone, along with flooding the gound is severly saturated,

if we get a direct hit im hi tailing it out of here just dont know where yet.

ohh also it took m 2 hours to get gas during the huricane also !!!

ohh well for my 3 day weekend, now its going to be a 3 day weekend of hell!!

Dude, I hope you make it through it okay. How did the WRX fair from Charlie?

Mr. Pockets 08-31-2004 09:55 AM

My mom lives northwest of Ocala and completely dodged the Charley bullet a few weeks ago. Frances is still 5 days off, so who knows where it'll go. By the weekend it could be in Maine.

solarsvx 08-31-2004 10:09 AM

the wrx stayed in the garage

yea ocala got lucky,, i might head that way if it comes through, my grand father is retired there,

GreenMarine 08-31-2004 11:38 AM

I hope that Frances hits Beaufort, SC Head on!!!! I've wanted to be in a Hurricane forever!!! Plus, if the base has to evacuate, I already have my name on the list as a volunteer to stay and stand out at the front gate with M-16 and all and guard the base :):)

Yeah, Ocala got jipped when it came to Charlie. We didn't get any of it, we barely even got the rain. I haven't even heard anything about this hurricane, but then again i haven't really been watching the news.

The projected path has been jumping all over today. The weather guys at work run 5 different models, and they disagree on landfall - all the way from Miami to Charleston.

However, three of the models currently show it making land fall in my county....things are getting crazy here - no batteries in the stores, Wally World has sold out of bottled water (and they got an extra big shipment), had to go to three gas stations to put gas in my car - first two were sold out of all three grades.

see attached for the current expected track.

edit: I put a little red dot over my town on the map.

Tonite we try to get off an Atlas launch carrying a NRO satellite, then start buttoning up. Currently expecting a mandatory evacuation order of the barrier island. Guess where I live - all of 8.57 feet above sea level - and a Cat 4 or 5 hurricane has a storm surge of what 12-18 feet (I live 4 blocks off the beach).

see attached - X marks the spot - anywhere in red is expected to get hit by a wall of water even at Cat 3.

Landshark 08-31-2004 06:05 PM

my parents live in Orlando and got hit pretty good - their screened-in rear patio is gone, and they have the roof temporarily patched. they had water coming in every room. that sucks, i feel for you guys.

you are always welcome to move to Pittsburgh - SVX Capital of the World! :D no hurricanes, earthquakes, or tidal waves. we get snow, but that's fun with AWD!

I took Lee's stormplot1.jpg and put a black mark of where I am,
here in Jacksonville.

And of course, the red dot is where lee is.

Im asking any god fearing person on this board to please pray for us! Were going to need it!
