pinched the wire for solenoid C causing it to ground. This locked it in 50/50 split.

Now, the interesting thought I had on this - you could install a switch to do the lock for a manual locking center. Which also makes me think of duty cycle and if you could install something variable to allow for a manual adjustment ala the STi center diff. Any thoughts on this from the auto gurus?

Yes it is possible to manually lock the center diff by doing what you are thinking, however its not a very good idea as your gas mileage will suffer greatly and your transmission will hate you.
