Torque converter lockup temp
I recently relocated my sending unit for my trans temp gauge to the oil pan. It shows 97F when the converter locks up, and it's not off more than 10%, I can confirm it with a temp gun. Where is everyone getting the spec for lockup prohibit @ <150F?

Re: Torque converter lockup temp
My remote filter/temp gauges always shows right around 150 at lockup. Have them on 2 different svx's but the same gauge mfg. Maybe the output oil is hotter than the pan oil temp?

Re: Torque converter lockup temp
yeah it is much hotter. I'm thinking the actual temp in the pan is 100F for lockup. Mine used to show 140 when it was on the remote mount.

Tom-
Mine locks up at an indicated 96-99* on the gauge you installed. The temp sender is on the remote filter just outside and downstream of the trans, right? Christian |
Re: Torque converter lockup temp
I need to get ahold of a select monitor so i can just compare it mysef. 100 seems more likely, but i feel like I remember reading the spec myself and thinking it seemed high.

Re: Torque converter lockup temp
I would like to know also. I have been negotiating for a special thermostatically regulated trans fluid bypass and they currently have one that is starts to open at 160 and one at 125. I figured the 125 was to low though.
