changing ratio

If i were to change the gear ratio to a 4.11 will the rear differential bolt up out of a Legacy?

The problem is the teeth got chewed up on my front differential. I have a cpl of trans out of Legacys that have good differentials.

It should bolt up, however, you will lose the limited slip. What most people have done is to swap the 4.11 gears from the Legacy rear diff into the SVX rear diff so you have the 4.11 gears and limited slip.

It would be a great time to change out your differential mount bushings, they are probably worn.

As asked in the previous post, are there any special considerations and adjustments to be made when swapping out the SVX rear diff? In my case a 4.44.

to be honest, bring OT's writeup to a shop and have them set the gears up for you... Worth it to have a little piece of mind
