Holy smokes... there was a glass sunroof option somewhere????
I want!! can't afford, and probably wouldn't fit the steel sunroof system, but I still want! |
Re: unfinished oem rarities list. Help me out you svx crazy people.

All the little quirks that I have read about, are already there in the list. Because I read about them on these forums... :D Were the glass sunroofs available in all countries, or only overseas? I need a driver's side slide-piece that slides inside the aluminum track... maybe I should just get the glass panel at the same time. :D |
Re: unfinished oem rarities list. Help me out you svx crazy people.
Auto headlights... when you go thru a tunnel or it got darker they would switch on. My JDM SVX had it.
4WS Also the same SVX had that. |
Re: unfinished oem rarities list. Help me out you svx crazy people.
Mine has the rear deck cabin blower / cleaner / de-ioniser.
I retro-fitted it from wrecked JDM here in NZ http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/showthread.php?t=54384 |
Re: unfinished oem rarities list. Help me out you svx crazy people.
There is no glass sunroof.
If you disagree with the above statement, post: pictures web site forum discussion supplier price country part number. Any two of the above will be fine. In fact any one of the above would be great! Not really expecting a positive answer on this. Joe  |
Re: unfinished oem rarities list. Help me out you svx crazy people.
Pfft. Joe, you need to study more. How about this. care to make a friendly $20 wager?

Re: unfinished oem rarities list. Help me out you svx crazy people.

It is a genuine subaru glass sunroof. |
Re: unfinished oem rarities list. Help me out you svx crazy people.
we need a :munch: smiley, for sitting back with popcorn and watching this unfold.
I wish I had more to contribute, but I am glad to be learning about all of this. Seems they threw everything shy of a kitchen sink at this car. It would be amazing to have ALL/best of it in one car. Sounds like Zakivan is getting close. :D |
Re: unfinished oem rarities list. Help me out you svx crazy people.

Do you have the VIN or part number of the car that has the antenna switch?
Thanks, Jordan. |
Re: unfinished oem rarities list. Help me out you svx crazy people.
So who's gonna race to get as many of the things on that list as possible? I mean, how many of those things would be even possible to get? Like wasn't 4ws really rare to begin with?
Also, I think I'd really like a glass sunroof, seeing as how the only rust spot on my whole car is on the sunroof. Any idea how that would be done/how much it would cost? |
Re: unfinished oem rarities list. Help me out you svx crazy people.

Weak and all as the Dollar is, twenty bucks would have been fine. Just fine.:D At the top of this post there is a header that says: unfinished oem rarities list. Help me out you svx crazy people. All of your list items are OEM rarities that came on different market SVXes. OEM items that came on the car as in from the factory assembly line in Gunma. Pop-up seventies style aftermarket sunroofs don't count as OEM. Lee's smaller than standard dealer supplied after market sunroof is not OEM. GC8 sunroofs from 2003 do not count as OEM. Right, where's my twenty bucks? :p  Joe ;) |

Re: unfinished oem rarities list. Help me out you svx crazy people.
Dayle has a set of the clear headlamp protectors. Maybe if we had enough people interested he would be able to reproduce these in a polycarbonate???
Dayle-group buy anyone>>>? I have wanted these since I saw them in a dealer accessory brochure the original owner of my SVX gave me when I bought it. Also the cool silouette style rear quarter glass Tint/decals. Anyone got these??? |
Re: unfinished oem rarities list. Help me out you svx crazy people.
Japanese floral mats, that's another one.

Excellent!
I never knew that one. Thanks Mal. Joe :) [I wonder if the JDM ones have it?] |
Re: unfinished oem rarities list. Help me out you svx crazy people.
Please keep in mind, you stated there was no glass sunroof for the SVX. If one bolts in w/o modification....and its made by subaru... what would you call it? OEM stands for original equipment manufacturer.... this sunroof was made by Subaru, and was NEVER an aftermarket addition as others were speaking of in that sunroof thread. It is OEM to the 2.5 1st gen non-USDM. = OEM Subaru, not a dealer cob job It is a direct bolt in replacement for the metal sunroof, and follows the curve of the roof.
If its Subaru, and no modification is required, I certainly think its part of the (my, which very few have helped on) list. ALSO, considering the sever lack of knowledge of it, the sunroof makes sense and stays. Adding oil cooler to the list. Some one got a linky to info on it? |

To attempt an argument that a glass sunroof could be OEM on an SVX is a complete waste of time... |
Re: unfinished oem rarities list. Help me out you svx crazy people.
:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:
Then an S4 grill on anything other then an S4 is not OEM. Nor a 97 grill on a 92. Or if you argue that those are acceptable, then putting a modern mustang engine in a 68 would be OEM. I had to make electrical mods for my glass headlights as the harness doesnt have enough wires. Are they not OEM? Some times you just need to use common sense, sorry, but gimmie a break and contribute something useful |
Re: unfinished oem rarities list. Help me out you svx crazy people.
Here is something useful. The original SVX accessories catalog for the JDM Market.
Click HERE I have the hard copy of this catalog. Most of these accessories are long gone. The listing of what was "available" or "unavailable" was inserted into the catalog you see here by Japan Direct Import Service That was about 4 years ago. The part numbers for each item are on the last page, with 1992 prices. . |

1- the security system w/ keyless remote 2- (or)the key unlocker with built-in Ir system 3- the morse door handles and i am sure theres even more items to add :) |
Re: unfinished oem rarities list. Help me out you svx crazy people.
security w/ keyless remote... is that not what most SVXs have? or is that something different?
To my understanding, the IR key system has to many stupid components to make it likely to be transferable to other non IR cars. Yes? No? Even so, pic/thread with info Morse Handles, there must be a proper name for them. What would we need to get them on our US cars? pic/thread w/ info This is where I need help from you couple hundred viewers... |

The main reason I have all these extras, I have 3 UK cars, and they came fully loaded as you guys in the States call it, plus I have two Japanese cars, including one of the rare 4WS cars. And the 4ws one is supercharged at present. Oh, I forgot another one, I have a set of the OEM German market 17" rims that the SVX came with in Germany for special order. Click on Betty in my signature to see those. One of my UK cars I am keeping bone stock, it has only 40,000 miles and is a tight and lovely car to drive. Of the others I am going to make two "special" cars. Black Betty the Ebony car currently has the German OEM rims and Japanese closing mirrors. I will be fitting it with a 5 speed manual transmission and 4.444 final drive. It is getting the S4 grille and I could fit the Alcyone hood emblem, but probably will not do so. It already has glass lights and power washers, and I'm thinking that I will add the fog inners like Zavikan, but if so I would add H1 HIDs to power them. These would be in the UK lamp chassis which has the powered leveller from inside the car. Once I get it that far I might consider boring the engine out to 3.7 litres, but I have no plans to supercharge or turbo that car. The Japanese CXD car [G5] that has 4WS is currently running with a supercharger and has 6000K hids. But on crap Japanese plastic headlights. It also has a BBK upgrade and 17" rims to accommodate the calipers. In addition it has a bigger custom exhaust to flow the extra gas. The upgrade plan for that car is as follows: Glass lenses fronting the headlamps, but I might just fit UK glass lamps with the remote levellers. Water injection. Moving the alternator underneath because I insist on having aircon. Smaller pulley and more boost. About 350 hp. Upgraded gearbox [auto] with 4.444 final drive. I have heated leather seats I intend to fit to it. Bluetooth double din stereo. That's about it. It will not need much more. It should be a nice everyday car at that point, it has just covered 100K miles lately, and the only thing I don't care for is the three tone colour scheme. It is what it is, so I accept that. With those two I'll have a UK car with Japanese extras, and a Japanese 4WS car with UK extras, supercharged. Other than that all I'm hankering for is a white one. :) Joe |

BTW, from the little bit I looked in... the glass panel is from an overseas version of the impreza, I guess... and just happens to fit the same "cartridge." (the sunroof unit frame, installed to the underside of the roof.) The steel and glass versions are probably largely designed to the same specification, just a difference in the panel material, clear transparent glass, or solid with a headliner on the inside. Subaru probably worked with a company like Webasto, or American Sunroof Company (ASC), or other OE supplier, and specified the design, and the panel part is modular between them. I would call it a "cross fitment", since the SVX was not fitted with it, but the part evidently fits, from another source. |
