Re: Lsvx-t
I finally found this thread, great work Tom! I see you are welding Al now, fun stuff to work with isn't it?
I cringed when I saw that aluminum intake manifold in the first few pics and was happy to see that you swapped in a composite intake. The MSD atomic intake can handle a decent amount of pressure, according to several of the Vette guys that run them w/ blowers in my area, if you ever decide to go aftermarket again. Are you running a Ebay turbo or name brand? How's the spool/lag on it and have you driven it enough yet to know if it is properly sized to your specific combo? I have my eyes on the G30-770 or one of the Borgwarner EFR 8374, but it seems like people actually have good luck with some of the Chinese clones these days. Can you provide some more details on the new Nisan steering setup, how the 350Z rear cradle mounts in relation to the stock setup mounting points, aside from the fuel tank removal, and what wheel arches you found that fit? I have a set of 255/40r18's that I am trying to tuck under the car, came off my 07 Legacy GT-L, and was thinking that flares would look better than just cutting away offending material and painting the edges of the steel. Looking forwards to the end results and I hope you don't run into thermal management issues. I used Swaintech for my C7 Z51 and their white lightning coating is legit.

Re: Lsvx-t
Sorry, dont get on much. Ill try to address a couple things.
Im running a vs racing turbo which is basically a clone of a bw turbo. 83/75 t4 w 1.10ar. It spools quickly and power comes in pretty quick. Im on gate at about 3500-4k rpm which is a little early but its not a top end car so it fits the bill perfectly right now. Currently on 7psi but i will be pushing that up next season. Cooling was an issue with the cheapo ebay fans i had. I have since installed a pair of spall 12" fans and that has helped immensely. The steering is an sti quick ratio rack that has been depowered. The nissan steering column was a lot more work than its worth and the results have been underwhelming so far. It "works" but its not very good. Maybe the toyota column from a prius is better as it seems. Most epas conversions go this route. I may one day ditch it and get another sti rack and go back to hydraulics. Wheel arches are just cheapo ones from amazon. Front fenders dont work but the rears are fi e for what i needed Thanks for the interest. I am currently building a whole new wiring harness using a real fuse and relay box instead of all the inline insanity i started with. I get an hour in the garage every other week basically so it been a slow go. But i also have all winter. Spring time i want to get it dyno tuned and maybe run it down a drag strip to break my old record from damn near 20 years ago Tom |

Re: Lsvx-t
Eventually, i may go to a tubular subframe but for now what I have works.
Here's a quick pic of my harness situation. Trying to limit the ise of butt splices so I have continuous wire end to end with new terminals wherever i can find them. Certain things like the gauge cluster i cannot find the correct terminals so i needed to butt splice those wires. The rear harness is complete, i need to run the front harness next. Once thats done i will actually need to work on a dash so i can locate my switch panel again. I mat even add sunroof controls but that can always be done later. As always progress is slow as the baby takes most of my attention. ![]() Tom |

Re: Lsvx-t
Anything is better than nothing. I have an acquaintance with a Mini Cooper in his garage that hasn't been anything but a place to put stuff for about 10 years.
Kids. Time sinks.

Re: Lsvx-t
My brother had a 1970 1/2 Camaro Z28 with a 495 cu. in. McLaren engine sitting in his garage for 41 years in various stages of modification. At age 78 he finally sold it last year to a friend because he figured he'd never get it back on the street. Good call I'd say.
