Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

I drove about 1500km on my SVX yesterday and the day before yesterday. I plan to wash it and change the oil today. The car is in great condition. It was a fun drive.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

This weekend, I installed a replacement used climate control unit in my 1992 SVX.

I also placed an order for some replacement pads and rotors (Rockauto) and a rebuilt steering rack from eBay.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

I got the car off the lift, tried a few times to start (its on a battery maintainer), and she eventually started. Took her out for a spin and enjoyed every minute of it.

I wish I could drive her more often. I debate if I should sell her to someone who would enjoy her more than I can right now, but I don't think I would get what I would want regarding price.

On my JDM car, someone repaired my unit (had leaking capacitors).

On the US car, someone locally had a box of SVX parts and included was a working climate unit. I swapped the face since the replacement unit was from a 1995 L model, and it went into my 1992 LS-L.

Mike did you hook up that a/c drier? Did it fit OK?

It looked like it wouldn't fit on my 1991, so I skipped it . I might try to fit it to the 1992 since that car still has the r12 fittings.

Sounds goods. The remaining problems are the engine mount and the PS pump, right? Hmm, there are still many problems....

I've been dealing with a rust problem on wife's R1 for the past week. I got the panel but it's a pain to replace. This was the last one left.

The PS rack, engine mounts, diff mounts and AC retrofit are the main things to tackle on my 1992.

My 1991 could use a new PS pump. The unit I rebuilt still occasionally makes noise and I'd like to get a better core to start with or a rebuilt one.

This week, I put new front and rear brakes on my 1992 SVX. The reman steering rack from ebay has arrived and I will swap that in the next couple of weeks and install new tires as well.

Now, the new steering rack and new Continental DWS tires are here. Getting over a head cold, and will be digging into this car once I feel better.

Those Conti's are excellent. I have a set on the Bimmer and the Benz.

Pulled the steering rack out of the 1992. This car is so clean underneath, that all the exhaust and suspension hardware were removed without issue. Cleanup is underway from the rack leak, and transmission fluid, filter and pan gasket will be serviced while the car is in the air.

Mike,
How do you get the car up in the air? Do you have a lift?

Hi Larry, I have Quick Jacks that are rated for 7000lb. These lift the car with a hydraulic ram on each side and a frame, and lock into place with a rod and stop.

Here are a couple photos from this week when I removed the steering rack.

Have you gotten over your cold?

I do a little welding every day. Work is slow due to a sore back, but I've finally got the frame back in shape.

I don't really like welding, but my wife wants to keep this car for a long time, so the repairs are necessary.
