Refurbished Stock Rims

I would be interested to know if anyone here has ever purchased refurbished OEM rims from any of the various vendors you find on the web.
I took mine off about five years ago (or more) in favour of chrome aftermarket rims. This turned out to be a disaster and now I am on the verge of going back to stock but they need to be refinished.
So I'd appreciate your thoughts.

One word: Transwheel Click HERE for link

Do a search on Transwheel and see what it says. I have had my wheels done back in early 2002 for my pearlie. Sionce then I have put them on my 96 Polo Green.

Its been almost 5 years now and after 4 Maryland winters, they look as good as the day I installed them. No chips, no peeling, no fading. They come with a lifetime warranty.

This is a very recent photo of my wheels. They all look this way:

John, do you remember what the price was to do them? They still look great.

When I sent them a set of stock wheels back in 2002, It was $154.50 per wheel and I got free shipping.

At that time, they said the price outright to send me refinished wheels was $229.50 each (This included a $75.00 core charge). If I sent them back my old, repairable wheels, they would refund the $75.00/wheel back to me.

On their site now, the wheel price seems to be $240.00 each. I am assuming this is an outright price. If they still have a core charge built into that price, the exchange price for refinishing could be only $165.00/wheel.

I don't think free shipping is still offered.

Wheels America

Several years ago I had a set refurbished by Wheels America. They did a great job doing some rebuild on rims, balancing etc. The price a that time included return shipping.

Here is the link. Some people might be close enough to some of their facilities to drop them off. Also, a flat fee for doing it. A bit cheaper than the above post figures.

Thanks svxcess

I went with Transwheel. Got them back and installed today.
I went through my local auto shop - dropped the old rims off there, Waukegan Tire picked them up, sent to Transwheel and back in 10 days. The cost was $200 per wheel all in.
New tires too I decided on Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position (mouthfull).
Now I'm back to stock condition and loving it.

Hiya,

Are those SVX center caps US market? are they still available ?

I have a JDM and have Subaru on my mine, like the SVX one's better

I am thinking over the idea of having my wheels powder coated in an
anthracite colour with a machine polished rim, cost here is about £90 per wheel so not much difference either side of the pond for a change.

I thought of powder coating mine, but then you'd still have to get the caps painted. Put the cost too high for me, plus the hastle of matching the paint to to powder. They are being re-painted as we speak.
