How to remove driveshaft without losing Tranny fluid

I think the center bearing on the driveshaft of my '92 LS-L is shot and I need to replace the entire driveshaft as the bearing is not replaceable separately.
When looking at my shop manual, They say I need to use a special cup to place in the tranny output hole to prevent fluid from coming out. And to be careful not to damage the seals.
My questions are, Is this cup some sort of special order part? Where to get one? How much fluid will actually come out if one is not used?
Thanks.

Re: How to remove driveshaft without losing Tranny fluid

Since you are replacing your driveshaft anyway, just sawzall the driveshaft off close to the front yoke, then leave the old yoke in the tranny, until you're ready to insert the new driveshaft. Then you just pull the old out and insert the new one, you will loose a little fluid, but no more than you would when you insert the "Special Cup" and it costs you nothing......and save the front yoke to use as a plug if you ever have to do any more tranny work (it's an SVX so you WILL have to do more tranny work )

Re: How to remove driveshaft without losing Tranny fluid

Thanks guys.
I would like to get one of those caps but don't have a 3d printer. Or the exact size I need.
The guy at the transmission place said not too much fluid will come out and I can just collect it, measure the amount, and replace it.
Will probably do that if I can't improvise a cap.

Re: How to remove driveshaft without losing Tranny fluid

Change of plans.
Driveshaft cv joint is slinging grease, but the bearing and shaft seem to be working fine.
The problem is actually a split and detached transmission mount.
I find the part is NLA.
Anyone have an idea where to get one?
The engine is tipping forward pretty far. I guess I need to check the engine support rod too.
Thanks.
