Replaced Sensor Still Trips Code
Help?
Okay... many moons ago I had a problem with my SVX where it tripped a P0337 error, namely "Crank Position Sensor Low Input". Now, during my wheel bearing replacement I also replaced this $160 sensor!!! Ack! Anyway, today is my first day driving her again... and lo and behold, the error's still there??? What??? Okay, so I start thinking that perhaps this is the CAM position sensor that's bad... not crank... there doesn't appear to be an entry in the OBDII standard for a Cam Position Sensor (though some manufacturer-specific codes do exist, none for Subaru). Any thoughts? Am I barking up the wrong tree? Am I, in fact, barking mad? (don't answer that, Dub or Halistan...) Help me... this little orange Check Engine light is quite distracting. |

There are 2 crank sensors and one cam sensor...the cam sensor being the same part as one of the crank sensors.
If you changed the unique sensor and nothing changed then swap the other 2 sensors and see if the code changes. If it does then you found your bad sensor.

Does this mean I'll have to buy another of these sensors... or can I use the "unique" sensor I removed previously and replace the "dual" sensor?
Although they seem to have different Subaru part numbers, both units seem identical. Am I mistaken here? Thanks muchly for your input so far... very interesting. |

Yes. They are physically different. I believe one is taller than the other. Did you CLEAR the code after you did the install? Dave |

Yeah, that I did. Just a little ticked at having to buy ANOTHER $160 sensor just because the OBDII computer isn't terribly clear on its code.
