I'm doing an engine rebuild... any recommendations?
Hey guys, I'm looking for SVX specific advice regarding rebuilding my engine. It's out of the car and scattered in pieces across a workshop, so I'm making a shopping list.
My guys will do all the usual stuff when refurbishing the block and heads, but I'm looking for anything SVX-specific that you would do while it's apart. I'd love to be slipping the engine back into the bay with a supercharger bolted to it, but from what I've read elsewhere here, that doesn't sound like a sensible option these days. Such a shame! I've already had high performance head gaskets and a one piece lightened crank pulley recommended to me. And I've already done all vacuum lines, fuel pressure regulator, knock sensors, rocker cover gaskets, valve cover gaskets, spark plugs, and probably some other stuff I've forgotten by now! Any other suggestions/recommendations? Thanks in advance. |

Front and rear seals water pump, complete timing belt kit, i would go with a hotter cam too.

Yep. On my list.
But does anyone do a kit, or is it a tedious part number by part number order? Yes was just reading something about that in another thread. Would I need to look at ECU or other changes to get the most out of this? Or just swap them out? Thanks! |

You can order a gasket and seal kit from Subaru. Contains nearly everything you need for a rebuild.

Engine gasket and seal kit is the only thing I know. Part # 10105AA060
Attachment lists what is included. Lee

Yes was just reading something about that in another thread. Would I need to look at ECU or other changes to get the most out of this? Or just swap them out? Thanks![/QUOTE] The easiest and most useful cam change is just to do the inlet cam, like we did back 06. It had a few degrees more duration with a 8mm lift, and ground with the lobe center 7* retarded. Extended the torque curve a bit more, to fill the top end in. The profile was a Nissan KA24DE from the 240sx. It does not need any other changes, other than new springs. There are plenty of cam grinders in Oz that could do it for you. 'Shotgundan' ran this cam in his road race car, for a few years with good results. This was some details on it. http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/show...&postcount=130 Harvey.

Re: I'm doing an engine rebuild... any recommendations?
Got final quote for rebuild earlier today. Took a while to pick myself up off the ground and learn to speak/type again.
I get the feeling they haven't been able to source the parts at competitive prices. Any local Aus supply recommendations? (we're talking rods, pistons, the lot) |
