Brake fluid
Is DOT4 OK in the SVX? I assume it is. I am wondering if the esters in the formulation will help with heat extraction and reduce rotor warping.

I have used fully synthetic DOT4 in SVXi since 2001.

DOT 4 fluid is perfectly fine. Almost all cars manufactured by 2006 used DOT 4. I have been using the DOT 4 ATE Super Blue Racing Fluid in my polo for years. It exceeds all DOT 4 requirements and has a much higher wet (396° F) and dry (536° F) boiling point. They make this fluid in both blue and gold. I alternate between them so it is easy to see when your brakes have been completely flushed by watching the color change at the caliper. It is perfectly compatible with DOT 3 and they can be combined without problems. What you don't want is the DOT5 (silicone) fluid. Incompatible with DOT3 and 4 and cannot be used with ABS systems. .
