n/a but intercooled

how efficient would it be to use a front mount and still be n/a? throttle response in my opinion might not be as good but with cold air i would see a gain in hp? any advice would be great

Honestly it wouldn't be very efficent and honestly you'd just be wasting alot of money...

Example:

- Sit there and breathe normally... That represents your SVX, N/A...

- Now find a straw in the kitchen... Breathe through that for a few breaths... This represents your car after you've run all the piping into an intercooler and so on...

- Now open your refrigerator and stick your head in there and breathe (through the straw)... You're not going to notice much of a difference... That is what a working intercooler on an N/A car would be like...

........

Now I just came up with this in about 30 seconds so it by no means scientifically representing... It's just to give you a basic idea that it wouldn't really work.... Yeah it would cool the incoming air, but the distance that the air has to travel is the part that you'd have to overcome... It isn't a problem when you have a compressor at one end forcing air into the cylinders but when the pistons have to suck the air through all that piping, I honestly think that it would have a negative effect on the engine's output...

Good idea though

An intercooler doesn't restrict air it spreads it out over many small channels to increase the surface area for cooling.. it would be like sucking through a handful of straws. Cruisin_15 the only thing you'll notice is a lighter wallet.

The stock intake system for the SVX draws fairly cool outside air. Adding an intercooler wouldn't have much if any effect on intake temps.

Something to remember is that an intercooler acts as a heat sink, not a direct heat exchanger. The hot air out of a turbo/supercharger goes through the cooler, causing the cooler to heat up. This heat is then gradually dissipated to the air around the cooler. More airflow means more effective cooling. So at launch, when the car isn't moving, unless you pre-chilled the intercooler somehow it would have no effect on ambient temperature air. At higher speeds there might be a slight effect, but not enought to feel.

Im just kidding... to break it down for real listen to the following.

The purpose of an intercooler is to chill the air exiting the compressor housing of a turbo or a supercharger. This will effectively reduce the temperature of the air going directly into the engine. This does not cool the air past ambient tempuratures thus why a turbo or s/c car will run better/faster in colder weather do to the increased ability of the intercoolers to reduce temperature.

A naturaly/normally aspirated vehicle already breathes ambient air. So an intercooler would do nothing but add unnecissary weight and tubing to the intake system....

SO long story short... it will provide no positive gain outside of relocating the air intake
