I met him through the readers letters section of 'Street Scene' magazine, ( put out by National Street Rod Association, ( NSRA)
Jerry,

I searched the Auckland phone directory but there is no McGlaughlin listed. Are sure the name is not McLachlan, There is a Neil McLachlan, listing a postal box as an address i.e. 106210, Phone 372 2254. I have just tried the number but it is engaged. Will keep trying and will edit this message with the result. He may be running a computer on dial up.

Pleased you are on the mend. Trevor.

Edit P.S. I got through to the number, but Neil Mc was not in. I had a chat with the guy who answered and he said that this Neil lived in the States some 20 yrs ago, so possibly I have struck oil. I left my phone number and hope that he will make contact.

You guys are lucky, at least you had perfect vision for that many years. When I was in third grade, I went to the optometrist because I couldnt see the blackboard at school, and found out that my vision was so terrible that without glasses, I am legally blind. They have gotten worse over time, but are luckily still correctable. I went to my military entrance physical the other day, and they said that my left eye was only correctable to 20/25, and unless I can find a civilian doctor who certifies that it is correctable to 20/20, I wont be joining the Marine Corps. I also failed the depth perception test. But at least if I can have my vision totally corrected to 20/20, then after Officer Candidate School, the Corps will pay for Lasik. But hey, count your blessings of not having to fumble with contacts everyday, and not waking up blind every morning.

Tomorrow, I will visit the archives and look for anything that I can find that will shed some light on this search. It may take some time to dig through the dust, but I NEVER throw anything away, so I KNOW it's there somewhere!

Yesterday, (wed) I woke up with the exact same problem that started this thread. The only differance is that it was on the LEFT eye, and worse than the the right one ever was. The right eye is fine now.
I have a follow up appt on monday with the Dr that I saw on an 'emergency' basis on dec 30th. Since I didn't go blind the last time, I guess I will have to wait till monday.

We are thinking 'virus' or something like that, since it seems to move where it wants to, when it wants to.

Sorry Jerry,

Do not hang about, time is the essence with Eye problems, If it is a virus the sooner you are on an antibiotic the better.

With all the things that have been happening over the last few weeks, I have come to the conclusion the 'getting older sucks!' , but beats the He!! out of the alternative,( which is dying young)

I will accept whatever comes. I will 'adjust' to what I have to deal with. I will not just sit down and ROT because I cannot do what I could do 30 years ago. I will continue to do whatever the Lord has allowed me the ability to do.

I will do these things to the best of my ability and give the LORD the Credit for what I have done!

I have been Blessed beyond my wildest dreams! If I have to sit in a chair and tell a younger person how to use the equipment that lays before him, then , so be it!! That's what will happen.

I have not given up on doing the things that I love over a minor problem.

BUT, if it becomes a major problem, my tools will not be for sale untill I am cold, in the ground!!

Just read your thread. Sorry to hear about this problem. It sucks you are now getting it in the other eye. There are no guarantees in this life.

Well, other than we won't get out of it alive

On the good side, you got the other one sorted, and your medical experts seem to be up to the job of keeping you mobile.

Keep your pecker up. Trust in the Lord. Positive thinking helps just about every ailment I ever heard about.

And you are the man with the track record for that.

Joe

I can't smell all that well - 19 yo. Something about allergies and my nose being effed up.

I was told to let it "run it's course", and it seems to be a little better each day. It took 3 weeks for the right side to clear up. The left side is just finishing the first week.
I have an appointment on monday afternoon with the Dr that saw me Dec 30th.

If it is viral in nature, antibiotics do not clear up viral infections, they only work on bacterial invasions.

Time for your system to respond, and defeat the infection is all that will work, which may be why they are asking you to rest to clear it up.

They may put you on a course to build up your immune system to counter-act the problem Jerry. You need to take care of yourself, get more sleep, feed a good diet, do away with stress.

A glass of good red wine while watching the Simpsons is my prescription for you! An anti-blues pill, in fact.
