Poor Svixen...

she was parked on the street, minding her own business...

an unlicensed driver from a body shop next door did this to her while backing up in his truck. He claims he "didn't see" my car sitting there.

Oooohh, that is SO bad.

Hey, I hope you get them to pay for the damage. If it's a body shop, maybe they will repair it for you FOC.

Get them to spray it dayglo, so the dumb cluck will see it next time!!!

Hard luck man

Joe

Aww, man... quarter panel. Worst place. I concur with Joe: Unlicensed driver + body shop = a satisfactory settlement that costs you nothing. With luck, maybe.

Bad luck, dude. Along with the others, I hope the shop just fixes it for you. But when they find out what it will cost, they may try to just pay you for the value of the car, much like an insurance company might.

That's what I was thinking. Find a comparable car for sale, see if they'll cut you a check for the asking price, and call it even.

Must have been backing up pretty fast to do that. Sorry man, make 'em fix it or replace it at the full cost of a comparable car like others said.

Thanks, guys...

Well, the owner is PERSONALLY working on my vehicle. He's been in the business for ~50 years, the owner of the dealership I work for has known the owner since the owner was working for HIS grandfather (in the dealership business).

I went to check on progress today at lunch.

Sorry about another crappy phone pic, but here it is:

Roo,

Sorry you got smashed, but maybe you will have a 'perfect' car when it is all said and done. Hope to catch up with you one day.

Thats good that your car is getting fixed so quick, I hope the guy makes it look as good as new. I guess it could be worse, I know it sucks it got hit, but it could have been a hit and run, at least the people own a body shop. Hope to see some good pics of her when shes done.

Make sure they re-ZINC it so it doesn't rust right away.

....be sure they blend the door and trunklid for the paint.
Looks like he pulled it good and will level it off with some body filler...Make sure they dont prime over 36 grit scrapes (See to it they smooth it out with at least 180 or 220 before prime)

..then again if the dude has been in buisness for 50 years he probly already knows that
Hope to see it on the road soon

I think blending will be a waste of time when he's going to re-paint the entire car.
