Looks good. I like the pillarless side windows.

There's a black one in Winnipeg and I think I'm a little bit partial to that over the red.

The windows were one of the features that got me! as for mechanics the 12 is very strong and reliable, but the car is known for electrical gremlins. none right now. I wish it was a CSI but Dinan makes a Twin Turbo a supercharger for it so a year of saving up and i'll see alot of hp and torque a company in germany also called Koenig did something with the car that made it 500 hp
http://www.conceptcarz.com/vehicle/z...0/default.aspx

Dinan's twin turbo and some engine mods are pushing 660 hp and 720ft/lbs of torque. It'll cost me probably 15,000 to do that though, but shes only a fri-sat night driver so i have lots of time
if i get that twin turbo set up im looking at 0-60 in 4 seconds. just guessing on prices though
I picked her up around the 15,000+
I hate the automatic though!
manuals are almost as hard to find on these as an svx
oh well theres always the conversion
heres dinan's twin turbo

And thats where the worst came from. There was nothing I dreaded more than hearing the words from a friend of mine... "Hey mike, can we do that in my audi?"

I believe that I may have mentioned in the past on here that I would only be caught dead in a BMW if it was a 2002 or a 8 series.

Nice car man, every so often I wonder if I need one.

Congrats on the sweet car. I have been noticing the prices on the 8 series coming down, I am jealous.

Make sure to tell us all about it.

My dad's friend has one. I took it for a drive and it's a pretty awesome car.

The thing that boggles my mind is that the window seals within the roof frame. It rolls down 1/4 inch when you pull the door handle and rolls back up into the roof frame after you shut it.

I can only imagine how bad that would be for the window if your battery died

Lots of cars are doing that now-adays... anything from the Mitsu Eclipse to the new Vette's.

My dad has a new Vette with it - its not so bad on the battery, but good luck trying to get the door open if there's ice on it...

Nice 850

Hello

Very nice 850CI. Enjoy her she is a beauty!

I find it very interesting that most all the cars the I'd like to have in my garage but one are mentioned in this post.

97 Subaru SVX - Almost there trying to close the deal on one now
88 BMW M6 - almost this past summer but too much for a mint low mile car
90's BMW 850CSI or CI - the low miles mint are too expensive
Last year of the BMW 840 - low miles mint are also too expensive
Porsche 928GTS - never really looked for one but would like one
72 Triumph STAG - Which I own a mint original 36K Mile car and love it

I guess to like the SVX takes a certain kind of person with a certain kind of taste that we all share and in turn that taste seems to find lead us to other particular models.

Regards

Max

Someone else summed it up already by saying that this is one of five cars I would trade the SVX for. I agree with that statement whole-heartedly. I'm really not a big bimmer fan at all, but since before I could drive I always loved the 8 series cars. Like the SVX, it's a car that doesn't appeal to many, but if you know anything about them it just draws you to it.

Plus now you can say your car has a V-12. That statement alone puts you in a whole new ballpark.

Enjoy the car, it really is a classy beast!

I like 8 series cars also, although I feel I would prefer the 840 with the V8.

Max, your Stag would be an old school GT, out nearly 20 years before the others mentioned here.

My boss had one way back, I got to drive it a lot and it was a lovely car, for its time. However the chassis and handling left a lot to be desired compared to the SVX say, but I would expect that given the age difference. The interior is really lovely, very "English" and upmarket IMO.

Did you know the plan was to put the 16 valve heads from the Dolomite Sprint on that V8 engine? The oil crisis put paid to further development I think. A real pity, as a nice Triumph Stag still has the road presence that all good designs of the right size can exhibit. 36K miles, nice one to keep.
