Why Me?!?!

Yay! Another problem with my car!! I love having an svx (not really... b/c it all ever does is BREAKS!) anyway. enough of my complaining. so, the new and current issue of my car is this. the other day it would not start. it has a 3/4 tank of premium gas, charged battery, and a new oil changed (about 2 days old) so i try to start my car and it doesn't start, when i finally do get it to start the engine shakes really hard and greyish blueish exhaust comes out of the exhaust pipes. does anyone know what this could be? I was not going to drive my car like that, so i hung out at my friends house for awhile to let it settle thinking if i gave it a few hours it would be ok to drive home (30 min drive) and then i tried to start it later on in the afternoon and it would not turn over at all. So I'm kinda worried and my car is still currently at a friends house because it won't start... can anyone help me???

What happens when you try to start it now?

I was thinking it was the coolant temp sensor but that usually isn't a problem after you get it running.

blue smoke = the engine is burning oil.oil is getting into the the combustion chamber either past the pistion rings or past the valve stem seals. but usually due to defective valve stems seals

A bad PCV valve can and will allow oil into the combustion chamber.

Now it won't turn over at all.

Sounds like the engine is full of fuel. Maybe a injector has stuck open to flood the engine, and it now, has a hydraulic lock, a cylinder full of fuel.

Harvey.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. Just let it sit over night if you can and see what happens in the morning. You should try checking the check engine light codes and see if you got lucky(so to speak) enough for something to pop up. Let us know what happens. Good luck.

Did you change the oil yourself? If not you may have an engine topped off with oil.

Kat,
Great to have friends to look it over, but some advice if I may. You should stick very close to these friends, and learn what to look for. The "full tank, good battery and why won't this thing go" approach may work with a Camry or Accord, but not with this car. This is a complicated, difficult to maintain and keep up with automobile, especially after 9-14 years depending on model year. One of the best things about this forum is the opportunity to meet and get to know fellow owners and most are willing to offer more than advice. Keep posting, go to some meets nearby, and you may be pleasantly surprised. Good luck with your SVX!!

Glenn
