Front Dif replacement

Cottman Transmission, the people doing the work on my SVX, are telling me that my front differential is shot. Im not familiar with subaru's so i wanted to ask if the front dif is replaceable without replacing the whole transmission... Is it a two piece or is it all one housing?

you can replace the front differ, and the shaft in the tranny, without changing the entire tranny, and parts nr1 should be replaced as a set.http://www.subaruparts.com/diag/?mod...category=190-A
hope that helps.
I also heard that these parts are discontinued, but you have to ask other members for details

You can get a good front diff from someone that is parting out. Yes, the diff can be replaced separately.

Assuming its just the front dif. Like I said, it was at like 5 mph when it did it and I didnt drive it any further... Im just letting them do the work... trying to save myself a headache... What I get for letting it go FWD for 2000 miles...

Well I got the call today. Front differential pinion gear. Apparently a pin or something came loose and chewed things up so Im glad I stopped and had it towed as soon as it happened. So its not the transmission, which the guy said looks good. Im having him look over and install the rear differential as well so that it will be a fully functioning awd SVX for the first time since Ive had it

Nice thats funny because I specifically remember the owner of the dealership telling me when I kept asking about the transmission that he told me the seals were good on it that they were done on it

did that guy ever call you back I got the car from?

Just curious what a Bassani cat-back is?

The exhaust on the SVX was a custom exhaust done by Muffler City in the Bronx with a Magnaflow muffler and hi-flow cats
nothing Bassani or Dasani I put on there (unless you changed an exhaust that was not even 6 months old?)

PS Also SVX motorsports cold air intake (CAI) with Green Air Filter
