I certainly wouldn't argue with you about his products being top-notch. He wouldn't be able to stay in business and still charge that much if he didn't make good stuff. My point is simply that there are other outfits out there, like LPE Engineering, that are just as good (some would argue better), and much cheaper. In fact, it was John Lingenfelter's Sledgehammer cars (one TA and one C4 Vette) that made Gale Banks have to keep going back and re-establish his record. They went back and forth more than Fountain and Scarab did over the Offshore Speed Title. I remember reading about the Sledgehammer TA...301mph in the salt...i just couldn't see a 1991 Trans Am doing 300mph. Even 200mph for that matter. But it was right there in print and pics. Oh to have the money to do stuff like that.
