One week until Punishment

This is blatant self-promotion and I'm proud of it.

My third title hits the shelves next Tuesday, the 18th - The Punisher. It's a Marvel game about, well, a psychopath. This superhero really doesn't have much else in the way of powers beyond the fact that he's nuts. He doesn't just kill criminals, he punishes them.

I've never had so much responsibility as an artist, and this game really stressed me out for it. I worked dozens of weekends and long nights making my two levels. They are the harbor and the cargo ship, in case you play the game and want to know.

If you like violent third-person shooters, check it out. If you're not into violent games, or if you're not over 18, then don't. I'm not kidding - I have never seen anything so violent in my life. Still, I'm very proud of this one - definitely moreso than my previous two games. Maybe that's just due to my level of involvement, I don't know.

You can get The Punisher for PS2 and XBox. We have a PC port coming, too, I'm just not certain of the release date.

Alright, I'm going to rent that game when it gets out and borrow my friends playstation to play it. If it doesn't meet my expectations, I will drive up to your home and you will receive your punishment.

Well, I don't know what your expectations are, but trust me that the game is literally as violent as the ESRB would allow.

I wouldn't feel comfortable promoting this game on such a public site without another disclaimer. This thing's really violent, folks. The following screenshot is a mild example of the sort of things The Punisher does to get information out of his ...targets.

I wouldn't want to disillusion you and pretend that there are <cough> coincidences <cough> like that all over the game. But there are a couple subtle nods to this community I've been a part of for a few years now.

Yes. We didn't advertise the game the way we did so we could suggest things you can't actually do. We didn't show the drill going through the guy's head because we're not allowed to. But you can still do it, and you can still do everything the screenshots suggest you can.

We did have to pull a few punches and 'censor' the game in some trivial ways. Believe it or not, the ESRB told us that we had gone way over the edge and that we had to make changes or receive an 'Adults-Only' rating. Stores won't carry AO titles, so we actually had to knock it down to 'Mature.'
