Climate control question
I've done a search, no clear answer found.
Problem. Climate control won't switch from floor, to dash ducts to defroster, unless you move the linkage yourself under the dash on the drivers side. Even with the system all the way OFF, you can hear a rotating sound er, er ,er, er (don't laugh!) The codes it throws are 13/14 & 34 we have a subaru shop manual, and it seems to indicate to replace the "mode door motor" does that sound accurate??? also I don't see a service procedure in the shop manual on how to replace that part, so I was looking for some tips/instructions on how to do it. Thanks in Advance, Scott Omaha, NE |

The fact you can hear the motor I would say that's not the problem. You mention it works if you move the linkage yourself.
Can you lubricate the linkage to help it move easier?

Sounds like the connector that hooks the linkage to the output shaft of the motor is bad (i.e., the motor shaft is turning but the linkage isn't). You might want to get under the dash and watch the motor/linkage while someone else works the climate control switches.
