Odd tire wear...any ideas?
Hey everybody. Just finished puttin my K&B springs onto the ride, along with some new stock struts. I did this because I determined that my abnormal tire wear was likely due to bad struts. Here's the description
alternating between thick tread and complete bald spots on inside shoulder. The inside shoulde is NOT bald all the way around...just in 2-3 spots. Then the tread slowly increases to full tread, then back down to baldness. Pleas note in the picture the gradual change from tread to no tread. Anybody have any other ideas as to what would cause this. Also, Judging by the picture, are these tires still driveable? I won't hold anybody legally responsable, just looking for opinions -Mat

I had a set of Yoko Avs db's that wore down. Similar to yours only about 7 or 8 balding spots around the tire. It was the general opinion that using 32 psi was too low. I should have been using about 38 psi.

My SVX chewed through the first set of tires I bought for it. I had one of the techs at work take a look at it, and it turned out the car was WAY out of alignment. So we did the alignment, bought another set of tires, and lived happily ever after
Seriously, it did make a huge difference in tire wear. Dave |

I had a similar tire wear problem. I had the alignment checked at two different shops and they both said it was correct.
It turned out to be bad front struts. I put new struts on an the problem never reoccurred. You may want to have them checked when the alignment is checked. Doug

Sweet
Thanks for all the replies. I'm going to get an alignment today, and most likely get new tires. That sucks, but it's good too cuz I like to buy stuff. Hahaha...wish I could spend that $600 on HIDs or something :-/ Ah well. The price we pay for bling bling.
