brake bleeding problem
Has anyone ever had any trouble getting fluid to come out of the bleeders. my left front and right rear brakes wont bleed. I cant get any fluid to come out and i have very little brake. The shop had it and tried to bleed them first and said that they would have to start taking lines off and do the process of elimination. I tried bleeding the bleeder on the abs unit (wich the shop didnt do) and got just a drip of fluid to come out then it dried up. The shop sucked out all the old fluid because someone had put motor oil in it. My buddy told me that when one goes dry that there is a pump that you put on it and get fluid going again. It is a self bleeder or evacuation pump. Anyone have any ideas. I am figuring maybe a stopped up line or collapsed line but since it is the LF and the RR (wich are both on the primary bleeder on the abs), maybe it is something else since these two run together. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Quote:
Never put anything but approved brake fluid in your braking system. anything else can cause sudden brake failure! Any other type of oil or fluid will react with the brake fluid and very quickly destroy the rubber seals in the brake system, causing brake failure. Contamination With Petroleum Products: “Petroleum products are rapidly and selectively absorbed by brake system rubber parts, resulting in a high degree of softening, dimensional swelling, and general deterioration of the functional properties of these rubber parts. This type of brake fluid contamination will result in unsafe braking action and may be the direct cause of complete brake failure.” For more information , click HERE The steel brake lines won''t need to be replaced; however, they will need to be adequately flushed to remove traces of motor oil, as motor oil will swell the rubber parts in a brake system. I'd recommend replacing the wheel cylinders and the calipers (or at least rebuilding them) and flushing the brake system. Not to sure about the rubber brake hoses or the ABS unit. Flushing with denatured alcohol will remove any residual motor oil. Working, non-contaminated ABS units and master cylinders should be available on the network .
