Grill Paint Prep Question

I have in my possession a used 97 grill. It is currently Laguna Blue but has definitely been painted over the original red color. (Also it has a few tiny chips in the blue, the color under the chips is red). I need it to be painted Silver.

I am wondering if I should simply sand it down a little to rough up the paint then prime and paint it, or should I try to strip the existing 2 layers of paint off it before putting on my color? Since it is plastic I am not even sure if stripping is possible?

What do you all think?

I'd just sand it down pretty good, primer it, and paint it. The primer will take care of any issues with the old paint.

Re: Grill Paint Prep Question

Agreed, sand it down, prime and paint.
