Motor Mounts

My motor mounts are shot.

I read all the motor mount threads.

I see that the groupN mounts are compatible if you weld in 1/4" plate or 3 washers per bolt.

I seen at least 1 person say that you don't need the spacer, that it wont hit the crossmember, it just lower the motor 1/4".

I have also seen one guy say the OEM WRX mounts will work if you use the WRX brackets. Does this method avoid the need for grinding and adding a plate?

Would these mounts off of an 2006 STi work also?
Pictured on the Right in this pic:

They appear to be round from this picture, they don't look like the square groupN ones. The guy says they will fit a GD WRX.

Now If I go with WRX or STi or GroupN, Which bracket do I use?
The one from the SVX, or the one that matches the mount, like a WRX bracket?

Can someone clarify what my options are?

Re: Motor Mounts

yes the rubber part is borken.

Nah, I can't see myself filling it with urethane.

I am looking for a solution that I can bring into the mechanic and say here bolt this one on.

So I was thinking if I did the groupN with metal plate mod and bought a set of svx brackets to grind or whet ever, then I could bring that set in it and it would mount like normal?

Re: Motor Mounts

Does anyone have a picture of what exactly has to be ground or drilled or whatnot on the stock SVX bracket to use the Group N motor mount on it?

I see the pics of the added 1/4 metal to the new mount, I get that part.

What I am not getting is people saying they had to grind down some of the bracket, or drill out holes.
What has to be done to the SVX bracket to accept the group N mount?

I don't care if you just take a pic of a stock bracket and draw all over it with paint saying cut here, grind there, drill there.

Just looking for a general idea of what needs to be done. I have neither part in hand and I am having trouble visualizing.

Re: Motor Mounts

Help! Eyeballs dried out, can't search any more for motor mount info.

Need specifics for these Group N mounts or info on where to get stock mounts.

$708 quote from the mechanic today. No thanks.
$150 for labor.
Said there's 3 total? Some $250 Hydro shock?
Sounded like bull but whatev. I haven't been under the car in a nice long time.

I would like to hand him nice new shiny mounts & say here, have fun.
Suggestions?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Motor Mounts

There are two main mounts, $174 each on Subaruparts.com
One pitch stopper (under the throttle body) for $47
One transmission mount for $89 (if your car is AWD).

Group N mounts are $150 for the pair on fastwrx.com http://www.fastwrx.com/stienmoset.html
