How to Correctly Remove and Put Back the ABS Unit
Hey guys,
Thought I would ask this question... anyone knows the right answer? I want to do that the correct way without messing up the entire system. Thanks

You find my question that complicated?
I am no expert in ABS units, but we dealt with ABS check light in our old Merc before we sold it. We took it to Bosch service centres and they were able to fix it. For the SVX, I want to remove the ABS unit to paint the engine bay and put it back without having issues with it afterwards, check light, operational, etc... I just want someone to guide me through the steps that should be taken to correctly do that.

Not complicated just unclear. There are many different parts of the ABS system spread through out the car. Now I know what part of the system you want to remove and why
- Save your self the headache and drain the brake system using the bleeders on the brakes. - Mark and then undo the fittings from the pump. Probably best to start off using a flare wrench to start with rather than rounding off the fittings. - Put a bag over the fittings if they're going to stay in the bay, this will keep paint from contaminating the lines and keep any residual brake fluid from dripping on your new paint. - When you reassemble, first use the bleeder nipples on the pump itself to get fluid to the pump, then use the bleeders on the calipers to completely bleed the line.

The same way you deal with bleeding at the calipers.
The only complication is getting brake fluid on your new paint. You can either use a hose and a second person to work the brake pedal, or a vacuum bleeder to suck the air out.

I will cover the area with cellophane all the way till the subframe.
So basically I reconnect the lines to the pump, fill brake fluid, bleed the pump first, then bleed the calipers... Thanks Dave! Now after that, are you sure I won't be running into any electrical/check ABS bull sheet?

I thought it might be the same as the Airbag thing... or maybe a connection between unit and sensors, that's all.
