svx afm vs. legacy afm

I was wondering has anyone found out how much horsepower a svx is losing while using a subaru legacy airflow meter.I am currently using a legacy meter until I can get a good svx meter, also I have a tcu on the way that raises my shift points to 7000 in each gear, the only one currently available for a fwd svx.If I am only losing 2-3 hp I will keep the legacy meter.

I think it's hard to say whether you are gaining or losing hp.

If the legacy maf reads a higher value for a lower amount of air then notionally your car will run richer than it should and you will get less hp.

But on the other hand, your engine load will be reading higher so your target AFR might be leaner and your timing more advanced. Which leads to more hp. That's how the MAF resistor trick is supposed to work.

Re: svx afm vs. legacy afm

Some members said you would lose some topend power but I have place a bid on a used svx meter,so hopefully I will know for sure.
