New wheels for spring....
After spending much time looking at various "fancy" wheels for the SVX, which will be a mod in the spring, we found a cool wheel by Arelli on the Cruisin-Gold web site. It's similiar to the one on the motorsport warehouse site, just a tad different.
I will NOT be increasing size to 17". I couldn't imagine losing the fabulous ride and comfort just for larger tires. Does anyone know anything about these wheels, other than they are somewhat expensive (not as bad as niche) and look "mean"? Oh yeah and one modification we are not seeing eye to eye on is a hood scope. Feelings????

Awwwwweee come onnnnnnn.....
No opinions on the Arelli's or hood scoop? What about two tone paint? Had the chance this weekend to see a Jeep that was repainted by a guy who went for the "bowling ball" affect with the paint. You know, almost marbled. It seems he actually stuck saran wrap to the wet paint (black over blue) and just lifted it off. It was NEAT. Of course followed was two coats of clear. I think this guy is trying to break into something new and different. Since the Jeep has small stone chips, they are going to sand it down and use a sponge next time for a whole new look. Up until now he's only custom painted motorcycle gas tanks. So anyhow.....Arelli's and/or hood scoop?

Not to sound cruel
but if you want opinions, post a pic or a link to the wheels you're looking at. If there's one thing you'll get around here, its an opinion. That opinion may or may not be what you want to hear however.
I'm not a fan of busy wheels. I have 17" SSR GT-1's on mine. To see them, click on the locker button in my post. Many people have wheels, dig through the locker pics to see if something grabs you. Hood scoops are not my thing, neither are two tone paint jobs. If the car had a need for a hood scoop (like a intercooled turbocharger) then OK if its subtle. Two tone paint jobs, IMHO are not in keeping with the clean lines of the SVX. But to each his own. Ultimately though if you like it GO FOR IT! Todd

I think every wheel Arelli makes is butt ugly. In fact, if someone offered me 5,000 dollars to drive around with Arelli Assyns on my car for a year, I would NOT do it. I hate those wheels that much. And that paint you talked about looks cool on motorcycles, but on any import it looks ugly.
There's my opinion. - Ca$h |

I bought the rims from TireRack for $299 each. I wanted something forged to handle the minefields Detroit calls roads. Todd

Hey Todd,
How'd you go about getting your stocks 'refurbished?' Did you pay someone, or did ya do it yourself? |

I had them straightened by a local company (two were bent) and then took them to a friends powdercoating shop were they were sandblasted and powdercoated (color and clear). I sandblasted the centercaps myself and then painted them to match.
Straightening - $110 Sandblasting/powdercoating - $300 Cap spray paint - $15

Sorry for the color mistake My monitor at work is on the dark side and gets the colors all wrong...heh...half the cars I look at are black on my screen
But I still stand that wheels like that would look great on a black SVX as well Peace!

LOL...now that I'm at home looking at this on a real monitor, I now see that my animated icon is not black like I thought!
I will have to correct that before my Black Mica Subie finds out what I have done

One more thing - I just checked out those Arellis on the Motorsport Warehouse site. I have two comments:
1. Blechhh. 2. Anyone who would do that to an SVX should be horsewhipped.
