You probably have to open up the proper ports in your firewall... this is the most common issue I have seen with Torrents...

RTFM so you know what ports to open up...

If you want a test just sort by # of seeders on a site and get hte most, if it does nothing, i would try setting your current machine as the DMZ host behind your router. Personally i use no firewall, no router, etc. My main computer is connected to the internet directly, then out from it to my switch.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, scotch in one hand, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming HOOOOYA !!!!!

It seems that eveyrone in the world is worried about hackers and viruses, etc. As long as you have half decent virus software to scan all the porn you download, your fine. No hackers are going to hi-jack your system, they don't care about you. My system is WIDE OPEN. I have NO ports blocked, everything is open, no firewall, etc. And i have sensative material, stuff i can't afford to lose, etc. I've been running for 4 years no fire-wall and router free. Don't pay 50$ for some "hacker protection" crap, it's a hype that they use to sell you products that effectively do nothing but look pretty, and they don't do that very well either. If you open your router by going to a web browser and hitting 192.168.0.1(most likely) it'll take you to a page where you enter your login and password, which is likely admin, with no password. Or router and router, or admin and password. Then go to advanced and look for dmz host, may be under port forwarding. See if this works.

Fix my computer.

NOW!

(Jk)

Seriously its really borked tho, I think Im going to go with a Mac or something. I use a laptop as a desktop, it has about 20gb of data on it, proper maintenance, scans, defrag, ccleaner, etc, regularly, and its a 1.8 Centrino Toshiba.. and its HORRIBLE to work with. I can barely type if I run Itunes and Firefox at the same time!

Edit: I used to be all gung ho about doing computer things myself, but I waste too much time with it. I want something easier so I can spend more time outside!

i will agree with these points:

Limewire = crap
Torrents FTW
uTorrent software FTW

i use this site to search for torrents usually:
http://www.torrentz.com/

if i want more control, i use this torrent search:
http://torrentscan.com/

if i really have trouble finding something, i use this monster search engine:
http://torrent-finder.com/

Last time i used limewire(years ago) it had a huge memory leak as well, which never seemed to get fixed. Main reason it was widely abandoned, some chop-shop app using around 800mb+ ram was ludicrous, and you didn't get that ram back if you closed the app.

Instead of Limewire I use eMule to download anything I can't download via torrent.
