Toyota's radical B11s?

Detroit Auto show 12.24.2006

I perused a couple auto magazines today and saw this sleek white coupe, the Toyota FT-HS.

Standard run-of-the-mill concept car if you ask me. As I read the article I found it to have (one day have) a 400bhp hybrid powerplant.

Now why does this seem so familiar?

Ah yes, our friend the B11s. Another sleek, white concept coupe (with sui doors), using a hybrid energy plant producing 400bhp.

No big deal right? Try as I might I could not think of a car in Toyota's current lineup to fill this role.

If we go back a year or so, whenever GM dropped their shares in Subaru and Toyota supposedly picked them up, we speculated on the possible relationship the two companies might have.

So far it seems Toy-Sub have gotten real buddy buddy.

I think we may be seeing the first cross-platform flagship of our beloved automaker, even if they share nothing more than an single electric motor. (Saab doesn't count).
Suffice to say the B11s is looking a little "benign" as the years since it's debut roll on (going on 4), and something inspired along the aggressive lines of the FT-HS would be a welcome surprise.
I'm going to bet that if elegant SymAWD hasn't already got you aboard Subaru's deck, the madness that is the FT will be your cup of noodles.

Whoops, didn't see this until now.

In March, Toyota and Fuji said they will produce Toyota Camrys at Fuji's U.S. plant in Indiana starting in spring 2007.
Hmm...
