Using crank power on a crank pulley nut?
That's a challenge.
Are you really sure this will work?
I'm kindda scared.
I don't know, I'm not that brave to put a bar in front of the engine and
crank the engine to loose a nut.
I might break other things under the hood.

Any other suggestion?

By the way, which crank pulley is good for replacement?
I guess I'm changing the pully too.
I already spent $750 on buying parts for this job.
This car better be last long! at least 200K mi.

Anybody changed a front seal and a o-ring at oil pump?
My next step is to replace a front oil seal.

Another challenge!

OK!
Now I'm confident that I will try break bar method.
I guess several people already tried and I will update the result.

Is anyone have any thought on crank pulley?
Which one is good for replacement?
One thread talked about high rpm problem on
light pulley.

Do you have any trouble using light weight pulley?

Thanks.

Yeah plenty, If I'd have know I could buy one for that I wouldn't have bothered making one. (We just went through this .....'somewhere...?).
I would ALWAYS prefer to use the pulley spanner/wrench. Less room for error. Is it Sykes-Pickavant, (not sure on the spelling),? Kent-Moore?
cheers. BUY IT!!

Sorry, for being slow to reply,
But yes, I have used the breaker bar method many times, I even use it on the cam pulley bolts, when doing the cam seals....

As for reinstallation, I use a little lock tight on the bolt, haven't had one come loose on me yet...
(Huck runs to knock on wood....)

I've done the starter/breaker bar method several times and used a strap wrench to tighten the bolt back down but I recommend against using a strap wrench if you have the stock pulley - it could damage the rubber dampener.
In that case you can either use loctite and cross your fingers or buy or fabricate the right tool for the job.

I have an Unorthodox Racing billet aluminum pulley, it weighs 1/5th the stock pulley, more hp, no problems in 33,000 miles.

Just wanted to chime in with all of those who use the starter/breaker bar method. I used it recently when doing my head gaskets and have also used it on Acuras and other cars I've done timing belts on. Just be sure you position the bar correctly so it doesn't fly up and hit the hood or something else when you bump the starter. Beats buying an expensive tool!

Cough or have your car actually lift up from the bar. (My brat lifted a good 3 inches when I loosened it a few years back but finally went).
