Error code 15 for drivers side seatbelt retractor-
15- Front and rear limit switches closed ( i think)
Is this a common problem - drivers side seatbelt is stuck in the retracted posision - doesn't even try to move - is the a common trouble spot to check before I trace all the wiring? Thanks. Patrick. (BTW) I've only owned this car for a month - It didn't work when I bought it - I noticed that the shift lock control modual looks like it was cut out and put back in with electritions tape - I was wondering if this could have anything to do with it - also - the PRND321 Lights do not light up near the shifter - but do on the dash board... Wondering if this was all connected.

What it sounds like is that there is a switch to let the system know the seatbelt is either completely latched or completely unlatched. Right now neither switch is enabled but that's correct because the seatbelt is right in the middle.
Chances are the power is not getting to the seatbelt motor. I believe there is a connector either under the driver's seat or behind the interior panel behind the door.

The light by the shifter is likely burned out. How are the lights in your dash/roof buttons?

Your problem is this:
Both your front and rear limit switches are "On" So basically this means that your front limit switch is bad (the one near the windshield.) Please remove trim above window, and remove limit switch. Press switch with your fingers a few times should hear a "click sound" or use a Voltmeter and test for continuity between leads on switch. Replace or repair switch as necessary. **Edit** Might want to remove power cable comming off battery before trying this. As soon as you remove the front limit switch the seatbelt will try and move and wont stop until the switch is replaced. dont want to burn out your motor****** |
