what the hell is this thing?

i managed to snap a plastic piece of my interior off a few days ago, and i want to replace it since it looks like the clips that hold it on are pretty much gone, but i cant figure out what the hell to call it. it's right in my driver's side door on the floor. pics should describe it better than i can, since i suck.

Yikes. A little hard on ourselves, are we?

Here's a diagram showing the trim panel:

http://www.subaruparts.com/diag/?mod...category=940-B

It looks like you can get the clips that hold it on separately for $1.47 each. It looks like you need four of them.

...why the crap does the 93 section have a "sealing and trim" section and the 94 section not have it? is that part going to work on a 94? and i wasnt talking about the little things it clips into, i was talking about the plastic things (i had assumed they were clippish, i cant get them out of the sockets they go into) since theyre all broken off. i know im about as nontechnical as they come, but i dont work on cars very often (i computers).

That's a good question - and one I don't have an answer for.

I don't see why not. The beige is even the same - I have an entire interior door panel from a '97 in my car.

Sorry I misunderstood you. I still don't really understand, so if you can't find the part you're looking for on that page, might I recommend that you visit your dealer? They'll charge you a little more, but on a $1 part, that's cheap insurance for making sure you get the right thing.

i guess i'll have to go off to the dealership tomorrow to make sure i get the right part. i had hoped to not have to drive all the way out there.

It looks to me like those tabs are molded into the panel and you'll have to replace the whole thing. I wouldn't bother driving to the dealer - just order the part from subaruparts.com.

Very small needle nose pliers. You should be able to get the tabs out of the door.

I was too perplexed when I first saw this. I generally always look up parts for a 92 now, because there are more listed. I own a 95. In your case 93 is perfect because of the same color interior.

I'm pretty sure that the beige interior stayed the same color through al model years. Again, I have a door trim panel from a '97 in my car and it's an exact match...

...except that my window no longer does auto-up.

That's a door sill trim plate. Mine broke off two years ago and I fixed it with some heavy duty 3m double sided moulding tape. Worked like a charm and cost less than $4.

To heck with double sided tape, use thin velcro so you can still remove it to clean it out. (Keith is a NEAT freak about his car). I'm having the same problem with mine and since I'm lazy, havent bothered to replace it yet.

Some people just screw them in but it doesn't look very good at all.

I would also recommend adding double sided tape or velcro to hold it down. I had passengers keep hooking that piece with their feet when they get into the car.

The sad part is I replaced the piece and the tabs broke off the new one within a week.
