Question Removing the primary cats

I'm considering the removal of the two primary cats on my SVX... Only problem is that I am moving to Seattle, WA this summer. Would this be a bad plan?

Also, I just gotta flat-out ask: Is it worth it?

Thanks ya'll...

It will definately change the sound. What really matters is if you want the SVX to pass emissions.

As far as I know, no one has measured power before and after removing the primary cats, but if you believe that adding a high-flow muffler will improve power, then it seems reasonable to conclude that removing the primary cats should also improve power.

Removing the primary cats may not be so simple if you're trying to do a clean job though. The tubing coming into the primary cat is about 1.71" ID, and the tubing going out of the cat is 1.5" ID. So you'd have to make a reducer, and then find some tubing close to this size. Probably the best bet would be to cut the cat at the front on the 1.71" ID tubing at then cut the cat at the rear end at the point where its flared up to about 1.70" ID, and then find some 1 7/8" OD tubing (which is kind of an odd-ball size but less so than 1.5" ID), and bring that back to the flared piece.
