James Scott : ur absolutely right, so all i have to do is get the car laser tracked and it will solve the prob?

another prob is that there is a knocking sound when i am turning, is that the axles?

I'm guessing that the knocking is one or both of your CV Joints/boots. Have them checked and replaced first.. before you have anything else done on the front end... you'll be looking at 400 or so dollars on that fix.. To check the The Rack and Pinion, look under the front, right below the Radiator under the car. there is a fixture that runs between the two front wheels that has the arms that push the front wheels back and forth... if there is fluid coming out of this.... then you might have to have the Rack and Pinion replaced or repaired.. (about 1000.00) Good luck...
I'm sure there will be more to what I said... added from much more knowledgeable members...

Mitch is right Carlito.

You have a busted CV joint on one or both sides. Get this fixed pronto. Phils offer is a good price.

Pity your mechanic did not put the car on the ramp and check for damaged joints / loose axels, that would be the obvious way, and would only take 5 minutes. You need to do this to see which CV is broken. Maybe the left and right are the same [Phil??], but in most cars they are unequal lengths, so are not interchangeable.

Carlito

The axle is the thing which carries the power from the transmission or rear differential to the wheels.

The CV [constant velocity] joint is the part that allows the front axle to bend as the steering points the wheels in the right or left direction.

If the CV joint is making noise while turning, it means that there is wear inside it [it is made fom balls and cups] and it will disintegrate.

I drove front drive cars for thousands of miles with clunky CVs.

If money is a problem, and you want it to last, NEVER put power on while on lock, only while driving straight ahead. It could last a long time being careful about this. You need also to ensure there is lubrication in the joint. They usually fail because the rubber boot [expandable gasket] has broken and the special grease has escaped.

Should it totally break, the axle will fall down, the engine will spin that axle and ignore the other three, and you will be stranded, be it Death Valley or 42nd Street.

Get the money and fix it soon Dude.

Joe

ok..i finally took it to a different mechanic and he says it's not the cv joints but it's the front struts....

anyone know where i can purchase front struts and links?

i am also gonna change my rotors as they appear to be warped, this is indicated when i brake and there is some vibration..

i did the allignment and the car is no longer pulling..

i also have to change the tires as they are worn from the misallignment, previous owner must have hit a curb..

can anyone gimme some online vendors for struts for the svx?

These are just normal struts, any one know any stores selling performance struts? I emailed motorsports warehouse and Dayle said that they are sold out...

check the FOR SALE Threads, lots of parts cars with strutts, but a pair of new strutts is always best.
Also, unless you want even a firmer ride, I would stick with stock strutts.

Sorry, you'll have to settle for standard, OE struts, unless someone decides to hit Koni up for another run, or, someone has a set that they haven't installed, and, they'd like to get rid of. There are no other performance struts on the market, for the SVX.
