If you're coming to Grand Junction to visit us, check the weather from Denver to Grand Junction on I-70 first. Like Collins said, it is a SWEET drive! And let us know if you're coming into town so we can get some cars around!

I'll be posting my progress daily, so I can update the Itinerary.

Also, those of you who have had issues using your GPS' inside, do you have Bronze tint, or blue tint?

I understand the bronze is metalic, where as the blue is not?

It does not matter. All LS-L and Lsi SVXes have that titanium coat so you may have trouble. I myself made a mounting brace for my PDA by my window. Works like a charm there and I don't need an external GPS at all.

The only SVX that works well with GPSes or I-Passes (toll pass) are the 94/5 L without that titanium coat. Rader Detector works better on those too.

My trouble is, I don't think the Digitraveler has a place for an external antenna.

Yes, the windshield doesn't allow electronic devices to operate through it. We have an electronic toll road in Toronto called the 407ETR and they tried 3 different transponders attached to my windshield trying to communicate with the readers as you drive under them, all failed. They are forced to use camera's to capture my license plate # for billing but don't charge me "the no transponder fee" they told me I was the first car they had found with this problem. I would expect the gps to have the same issues, regards dave

Laserx,

I had the same with the 'Easy Pass' transponder.

The 'Easy Pass' company has a second transponder that goes outside the car. It attaches to the front bumper license plate holder. I have had no problems since I put it on the car.
Maybe they will get this type of transponder up in Canada soon..... eh.

Good Luck.

Yeh, the Uh Oh was about the Titanium tint. I hope I get some signal, otherwise I'll mount the unit on the roof.
As for the radar detector, I'll see what happens. I don't really plan on speeding anyways, it just helps me know when I should check what speed I'm actually doing.

I have everything ready, insurance, permits, lunch packed, and my lucky sneakers(don't ask).

I'll be checking in with John Wednesday evening on arrival, and I actually get to see the car on Thursday.

Randy,

Let me pick up the gauntlet for Sir Eddy of Cat, gallant knight of the ORDER of the BATHrobe. And let's not forget 'Toopid', his faithful squire.

The titanium in the winshield is a titanium oxide coating. It is not a tint. It is so thin that it gives no color to the windshield. Its job is to block UV rays which can damage (age) the vinyl and the nylon suede on the dash.

My '92 Pearly, like your's, has a gray tint winshield. My '97 has a bronze tint (beige interior) windshield. Both SVXes have the titanium oxide coating in the windshieldeven though they are different colors. Also, both are a pain in the neck for parkway toll transponders, radar detectors, and garage door openers. Furthermore, my Verizon Motorola cell phone works better when standing outside the cars.

GM & Ford also put metal oxide coatings in the windshields of their high end cars.

LarryIII

PS: What color interior do you think would go well with a YELLOW SVX.

Sorry, I always thought the term "Easy Pass" sounded like a laxative.

I was aware that the titanium oxide coating gave no color or tint. Next time, though, that you have water beads on your windshield, check the color you see. I swore up and down and sideways that my tint was "smoke" or somesuch, until I used the SVXit water droplet color test. I'll be damned if it ain't blue.

Can you PM me which phone that is? I have the ability to change the design of the future Motorola phone (or get prototypes that will work better) than production phones.
