Re: inerior paint

Grey? The Krylon Fusion spraypaint for plastic comes in a pretty decent amount of colors.

I was going to buy a new bumper guard for the FXT since it was oxidized and faded beyond what Back-To-Black could fix, but then i remembered i had some black Fusion paint. Looks brand new now.

Re: inerior paint

its all in the surface prep and taking your time with light coats.

I used Krylon fusion satin, has less shine.

Not an svx but it all applies.

Re: inerior paint

By far the simplest thing to do is get the gray seatsrestore leather dye and brush on a couple of light thin coats to cover the woodgrain of the new vent. The color is perfectly matched to the SVX gray seats/ steering wheel.

I have used the beige kit to touch up the plastic parts on my polo. You can tap it in with your finger to blend it into the surrounding area. It dries to a nice flat finish.

how long is leather dye gonna last on plastic? the Fusion paint actually bonds to the plastic.
i did the center console lid on the FXT a few years ago because it had some scuffs in it (luckily Subaru was goofy enough to make the lid black, on the grey center console ), and it still looks like new. i used satin instead of flat, and it always looks like its been freshly wiped with protectant.

Re: inerior pai

I wouldn't have suggested it if I had never done it and know that it works.. Once it dries, the only way to remove it is with hard rubbing and alcohol. You might want to scuff the surface very lightly with steel wool, etc for better adhesion. The surrounding woodgrain trim does not get mush wear ur stress so there should be no problem.

Members who know me and my car know that I don't do things halfway.

On my 96 polo, the rear seat release buttons, and surrounding bezels, began to fade from the sun. i used the beige seatsrestore to completely recolor them.

That was almost 5 years ago with so further fading, cracking, chipping or peeling

There are 29 colors of fusion paint. Three of them (gloss, satin and flat) are black.

Only one of them is gray "Satin Pewter Gray" ond is far too light.

Sorry, i don't know you or your car. I'm guessing based on location, the OP doesn't, either.
Didn't mean to offend, but I've seen strange and horrible advice on forums before.

Re: inerior pai

I ended up painting all my dash pieces, as they were

A) covered in horrible fake CF sticker (last bit is around the lighter in the pic)
B) mismatched gray and wood under said CF sticker

This is just some color of Krylon. I lightly scuffed the trim to kill the shine on the woodgrain pieces, cleaned with rubbing alcohol, sprayed with adhesion promoter (used on bumpers to make the paint stick), primered gray, two color top coats, and three satin clear coats to protect it.

Matches the Alcantara/Escaine fairly well, and looks much better IMHO.

No offense taken at all.

I even used the dye to color match the Phillips head screws on the door panels (then sprayed them with satin clear)

Anyway, here is a shot of the dye used to paint the switch bezel on part of my enhanced security system. Just painted the dye on with a small artist brush and let dry.

I'll keep the fake wood until someone comes up with a good way to handle the HVAC unit.

I just masked around the text- given the desire, you could easily make water slide decals and apply them before clear coating.

that's what stopped me from doing it.

the folks with the gray instead of the "upscale" fake wood win.
