An SVX, a little wax, a little rain, in LA and a sighting...

A few days before the New Year it rained here in LA. I had just detailed my car a week before and was not upset about taking it out... for one, I wanted to see the water bead up on the thing... and to see how the new wipers worked...

And a sighting... PaulDexler here on the forums!

Yes... it looks a little lighter(?) because of the water droplets all over it.

Great looking car... Too bad you missed your chance to select the really great windshield wipers that are available now

The wipers work flawlessly... brand new Bosch Excel+. Nearly as good as the Icons. I want to stay away from the Icons because I'm trying to keep everything looking sort of original. The Icons to me are just too modern. I also have a set of the original Subaru blades that have the little stop built into them for the "Summer" setting on the wiper control.

I had the Excel series before I went to Icons for all of my cars (Ive run Icons on all of my Legacies and the last 4 SVXs Ive had.

I have had good results with both.

Actually, I think the SVX still looks pretty modern.

Any parking lot you sit it on, it will be the star!

You are right it is a star. I attend the Early Rodders meet every Saturday morning here in LA and a few weeks ago I brought the SVX. I was getting loads or questions and interest. Even among these cars... see below.

But it's not a question on whether the car looks modern or not. It's about the details for me, and as the car becomes more and more rare I want to preserve the way the car would have looked during it's production run.... even right down to the wipers. That's also why I'm on a feverish hunt for some original wheels... which I have just found.

We are fans and owners of a car that is now almost 20 years old as far as when the first ones rolled off the line. And the model really did not change over the 6 year production run.

It is a car that is well footed in the 1990's in looks and design. I know some of us like to put on 18" rims and LED Knight Ryder lights... but I just want originality... that stuff was just not around.

Where is that cruise location? I used to go to the Coffee Roaster in Calabasas, but the mall management shut it down. There isn't a good cruise location near here anymore.
I like the effect we had on other motorists as we caravaned down the 405.

It is at the United Artists Theater in La Canada/Flintridge at the top of the 2 Freeway. It is just a meet (not a cruise) every Saturday from 6:00A-9:00A. After that most take off or a few will sometimes head down to Autobooks in Burbank... about 10 minutes away at that time in the morning.

Lots of cars show up, Leno shows up sometimes... a cool bunch of car guys. The Early Rodders organized it and it is just a casual thing. Here is the location:
