You've got a LOT of reading to do..

Something cheap and easy(LESS INVOLVED) I can recomend is a fiberglass hood(should save about 20lbs) and wrx seats! Also, the good thing about the hood is that the SVX is a little front heavy.. Getting a fibergladd hood really helps to balance it out.

Oh also something thats "kind of easy" is to swap out the steering wheel for another one(racing) without an air bag. You'll get less safety and I don't recomend it but you could save about 8lbs maybe..

A/C components =D (heater also) But I mean who would want to do that. Take off some panels also. But then again who would want to do anything that savage to an SVX.

Ha, figures I'd mess that one up. Thanks for the correction, lol.

Also, yeah.. Manual is usually lighter than auto.. It's a shame I can't drive manual...

Re: lighter car??

First, get rid of all radio/cd/sound equipment. Remove carpet, back seat, and last of all the driver. This might save you 2-300 lbs and cut your times by some unmeasureable amount.

Re: lighter car??

Honestly, we need to sticky a weight reduction thread. Something like..."2800 lbs is not gonna happen if you still want a nice streetable car."

Sun glasses are lighter than sun visors.
Squinting is lighter yet!
A six speed weighs the same as our automatics, but the 5 speed weighs about 100#s less.

Re: lighter car??

One word: Balloons. With helium. Everyone wants to get rid of stuff, what about adding some stuff? 1000 balloons off the top of your car will surely take some weight off!

Spare tire/jack, spoiler, manual seats, go on a diet.
