NEW Book on SVX!!
Just got the new issue of AUTOMOBILE magazine, and on Page 96 there is an announcement about a new book out, titled, WHERE THE SUCKERS MOON, published by Vintage Books. The 480 page book supposedly deals with the horrible advertising effort for the SVX from its introduction, beginning in 1992. It is a "behind the scenes" look at the advertizing campaign. I have not yet tried to find the book, but I am sure Amazon.com has it.
Looks to be VERY interesting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Harry

I too am surprised we haven't generally known about the book before now. The write-up certainly seems to support all of beliefs that Subaru did an extremely poor job marketing the SVX from the beginning! Thanks to all responding to this thread! Harry

I have the book and read it about a year ago. It was published in 1994.
Fascinating read. Talks about the introduction of the SVX during one of the worst recessions in American history and how the NHTSA had strong-armed the networks and print media to pull all of the ads and commercials that glorified its speed and performance. If only you could have marketed the SVX the way the WRX was marketed...  .

Put to Rest the Meaning of SVX?
I bought the paperback version from Amazon.com. Am about 1/3 through and find it a facinating history of the martketing of Subarus in the U.S.A. Malcolm Bricklin comes across as bit of a slime ball. Turn the 360 into a bumber car?
What I am wondering is the author states the meaning of SVX is "Specialty Vehicle Experimental". Seems like he got that from the source, Fuji Heavy Industries. Gene

This book is so old it is new again!
I actually hadn't heard about it either until just a couple weeks ago when Patrick (nextse7en) was telling his SVX "life story" and mentioned reading that book back when it came out. Sounds pretty interesting.
