I know

But that's how much the cars worth to me. I think the only way to get the value I'd want would be if another enthusiast were buying it. Even so, I'm not selling

I know that too, I hate an automatic car and this will be my first car with an auto trans in my 20 years of driving. I hope that I don't dislike it because of that. I am only accepting it as an auto because I am a fan of original cars and have no choice in this case but want the the model in my collection.

Even with an auto, it is still very fun to drive.

I reckon so, Tim, I reckon so.

In fact I'm convinced the best SVX to have is a 4.44 auto that has the jdm Power switch added.

To this end I am going to change the gearing of my Version L that has the supercharger. I reckon it will be more entertaining than the bog standard model, but outwardly will look exactly the same.

tried it, listed mine for 30k which people had serious issues with... So i guess I was right

While I agree that prices should go up... if they did, maint would go down. People affording the purchase price would be hesitant to spend more money on upkeep in a timely manner and more would go to the crusher because of a transmission fault or something else that may be a costly repair. So think along those lines, with prices so low, owners can afford to keep them roadworthy for longer. At least thats the hopes right?? (Just finished making a car that was parted out run again)

mine came from a unique situation but i think i managed to pay under what it was worth despite paying more than you would normally see for a '94. I bought it from an older man who had only had it for a few months and hadn't driven it much. He bought it at an estate sale in texas of some church pastor that died. The car was essentially in new condition, (the pastor bought it as a replacement for the mercedes and cadillacs he had and actually preferred it over the others) Anyway the old man was only the second owner, thus making me the third. He didn't have any papers on it besides the title and most basic documentation (no reciepts or anything) because apparently they couldn't find those at the estate sale. But I trusted him that the car was mechanically sound: a '94 Laguna Blue LSi with just 52k miles looked amazingly good to me, the only imperfection being the center console had a tear just ahead of the rear ashtray, (apparently it just got worn from opening and closing the cent box alot) but that was it. I bought the thing for $6200 with no negotiation. (The man wanted that amount and said he would neither take less more nor even more money, he had that number in his mind all along)

Now while this was all wordy i was just making sure i was clear on the details, for 6.2k dollars I bought a mint condition '94 Laguna LSi with 52k miles on the odo.

What SHOULD I have paid?

I surely do not think you over paid, however may I ask, when did you buy it? If that were today and you had 52K on a Laguna blue LSi and were able to document the owners plus have some service records I would think you could sell it for close to 9K. If you fix the tear you mention maybe 10K.

A fair price the way things are right now would be somewhere between $6,000 to $8,000. That was a fair and good price that you paid. You certainly did not pay too much.

Alrighty, thanks I just needed a second opinion. Oh and for his information, I bought the car right after the beginning of September, so not all that long ago. I've only had one issue with it so far, when a sensor went bad and the car wouldn't even turn over, once i had that situated though I've been good to go ever since.

I do wish I had heated seats though, i have no use for the security system

Hello Earl,

I am just curious, in my case. I think you know the car.

-97 Black Pearl LSi AWD
-44K original miles
-1 Owner
-In excellent condition & dealer maintained with all records from day one
-Has original bill of sale - will come with the car
-Has everything that ever came with the car, books, papers etc...
-Had one panel with some light spot paint work due to some a dum ass keying it (was done in the first few months of owner ship back in 97)
-Dealer inspected last week and every year before at same dealer
-Getting her with all new fluids by dealer done last week
-In excellent condition inside and out
-Car needs nothing and is all stock, not even an oil change

In your opinion Earl, what would be a fair price for this kind of an example.

Thanks

Max

that should fetch over 10k but we know how it goes and probably more realistic with 7-9k

I would agree with Tom. I would say $10,000 +, but probably $9,000 in todays market. If someone paid $10,00 to 12,000 for it, they would not have gotten a bad deal. Just my opinion though.

I will buy your car for 10K to 12K. Maybe more.

Contact me if you are interested.

I would walk away from this deal thinking you got screwed and I got a great deal.
