351W VS 302:

The two engines are "kissin cousins" in the true american redneck style! They share cranks, heads, oil pans, & exhaust manifolds.
The 351W has a taller deck height, wider intake, & overall wider dimensions.
The 302 Is basically a bored out 260/289.
The 351W can be made into a SUPER TORQUE MONSTER. The 302 can be made into a HP BEAST, by revving the bejesus out of it.

Visually, you can tell the difference in the width of the two. The 302 looks a LOT smaller.

crazyhorse got it right on the button. they only difference is the deck height. if you know how to measure it, a 302 has a 8.2" deck height. the 351w has a 9.5" deck height. you can also tell by the width of the intake manifold, due to the 351's taller deck height it's of course gonna be wider.

hope that helps,
Ben

edit: if you give me the measurement of the intake width i can tell you if it's a 302 or a 351.

I've got a soft spot in my heart for flagship Subies (XT & SVX), but cut me & I still bleed Ford Blue.

If you want any build-up help, let us know. Finishing up a 302 - T5 in a 240 series Volvo and are pretty much settled on a 351 for the fox body Mustang. Ben's the expert, not me. I just hand off tools and get b****ed at. A cruise in the SVX is always good for a cool off.

I got the car for 2k back in 2002 They had rebuilt the engine and put in performance headers or something. They had redone the exhaust, which has a really nice sound to it. The interior is good seats are in very good condition. Now the only issue is body work and Transmission. Transmission will be in this weekend I can't wait to see it move. I personally replaced the fuel pump, coil pack(correct me if I am wrong) and had the carburetor rebuilt. I will post pictures when I can get some of it :P. Its currently 4-5 different colors lol.

Man I just noticed I spelled boss wrong in first post I feel stupid.
Same bolt pattern on bell,
They look a lot alike, but the bolt spread on the heads and intake is different.
