I tried to work the legroom angle but my friend is filipino and thus has short legs.

Happy Birthday

Perhaps your MPG is low because at 30 below, it must take like 3 or 4 hours to warm the car up. It's 47 here in NC and I'm considering starting a fire.

30 below? - I didn't realize life existed at those temps. Hey, can you spit and have it freeze vefore it hits the ground?

Spit doesn't freeze before it hits the ground unless you are moving pretty fast and are kinda high up.

If I don't let my car run for about 10-15 minutes before I hit the road it will not be warm before I get to work.

The cold doesn't really bother me. I'll drive around in sub zero temps without the heater on. I just like for my windows to be defrosted.

I've averaged 25MPG (Imp) in the 5.5+ years I've had my SVX. This is in temperatures between +40°C and -40°F/C.

If the vaporization point of your gas is too high, then it won't vaporize at low temperatures and your car can't start when the engine is cold. So, the refinery will add lighter products to gas in the winter, lowering the vaporization point but reducing the amount of btu's(energy) in each gallon. This lowers gas mileage. Other factors are longer warm up periods, more rolling resistance in the drivetrain, heavier alternator and heater use, etc., all of which also tend to lower gas mileage.

My mileage just took a dive also. Ive had the car for a couple years and check the mileage regularly. Have always gotten 280-290 miles per tank. Last 5 or so tanks i have gotten around 220. Seems like it happened suddenly. Im thinking 02 sensor. I will check codes when i get a chance.

Mine is taking an even worse dive. It's running horribly and I only pulled 80 miles on half a tank.

Wow, I Feel better about my gas mileage now. I think it sucks I get around 14mpg. And that is with the airconditioning blasting. And almost all the time I'm stuck in 5mph hour traffic in honolulu, running into the store with the car on, or waiting at a stoplight. And the power light is lit up whenever possible.
I do have a theory about gas mileage on SVX's. I believe stock 92 SVX'S get the best gas mileage at around 89mpg.
Did you switch gas stations? I also believe some gasoline is inferior.
If your tires suck, that could also be some of the cause, ecspecially in snow.
What kind of traffic are you driving in?
Maybe you just have bad neighbors that cyphone(sp?) your gas at nite.

I've been using the same station for over a year.
My tires rule.
I don't drive in traffic.
My neighbors are pretty cool. They brought me dinner yesterday.

I'm thinking either I just got a bad tank of gas or my maf is on it's way out for good. I just cleaned it a few months ago.
My idle has become very erratic on cold starts.
At least I am hoping it's my maf, since I intend to replace with with the Z32 soon.
Ofcourse I hope even more it was just bad gas. :S

Any updates? Im still getting terrible mileage. I tried fuel injector cleaner, checked engine codes (none), changed spark plugs recently, Air filter looks clean. I changed the fuel filter about 20k miles ago, but i am going to change it again to see if it helps, along with the air filter.

My mileage went from 20-22, down to 13-14 almost overnight. It has been this way for about 2 months now. It happened about the time i was working on my transmission. Is there anything transmission related that could affect gas mileage?

I pulled 13.44 mpg last tank, this current one is about done, I'm expecting around 13 flat.

The only thing transmission related that will affect mileage is gearing and rpms.
High rpms obviously will reduce mileage, but during winter when it is very cold it is also less likely your torque converter will lock. A locking tc is your fuel economy's best friend.
Also extended idling to warm up the car hurts mileage, and something less known is the SVX will not hit 4th gear until the transmission reaches a certain temp, so driving around without warming up does no better than letting it sit.
Loss of traction also hurts.

This is mostly relative to my situation.

My mpg is averaging lower than last year at this time, but I am still attributing this to my extremely short commute of 4-5 miles. I will wait for summer and if it is much lower than last summer I will investigate further.
I do not think there is anything wrong with the car.

Maybe you didn't plug the O2 sensors back in....
